The Steurer family celebrates Christmas Eve together with the guests and the staff of the Hochhäderich. It’s a joyful Christmas celebration, without live music—and without all the fuss... After the delicious meal, we light the candles on the Christmas tree; someone from the group gets to read the Christmas story aloud, and we sing Christmas carols together.
There’s no Santa Claus, because that’s not a tradition in the Bregenzerwald… Here, the Christ Child comes, though we very rarely get to see him or her. The presents are already lying under the decorated Christmas tree, ready to be unwrapped.
Who would like to contribute to our Christmas celebration? We’d love to hear any impromptu “performances”—such as a Christmas poem, a Christmas carol played on the flute, etc. All children are warmly invited to help decorate the Christmas tree on December 24!
